Night escalation Ukraine: Moscow targets electrical facilities and a ship in expanded strikes

Moscow expands the scope of its nightly strikes in Ukraine, targeting the energy sector and logistics infrastructure

Russian forces expanded the scope of their night air strikes to include several Ukrainian provinces, targeting vital energy facilities, logistics facilities, and military infrastructure, according to what the Russian Ministry of Defense announced.

The ministry explained in a statement that the operations included the regions of Kiev, Zaporozhye, Odessa, and Sumy, as part of an ongoing strategy to undermine the supply and industrial capabilities of the Ukrainian army.

In Kiev Province, one of the strikes hit an electricity storage system in the town of Belaya Tserkov, which Moscow said was being used to feed the Ukrainian military industrial complex. In the coastal city of Odessa, another strike targeted a ship inside the port that was carrying dual-use cargo.

In Zaporozhye Province, southeast of the country, Russian forces targeted a military gathering in the town of Dmitrovo using a Fab-3000 heavy guided aerial bomb. The strikes also targeted an electrical substation in the vicinity of the city of Sumy, northeastern Ukraine, after it was targeted by Fab-500 aerial bombs.

The Russian Ministry of Defense confirms that these attacks come in response to and in continuation of the destruction of energy networks, logistical facilities, and ports that Kiev employs in the war effort.
