The Minister of Economy and Trade, Amer Al-Bassat, held an expanded meeting with representatives of the private sector and concerned departments, devoted to discussing the challenges facing Lebanese exports, and preparing for the official visit he will make to Iraq on the 8th and 9th of next November, at the head of a delegation that includes representatives of the public and private sectors.
Minister Al-Bassat stressed that the visit aims to address the customs and non-tariff obstacles that hinder the entry of Lebanese products into the Iraqi market, and to transform the available commercial opportunities into actual exports, thus contributing to supporting Lebanese industrialists, farmers and exporters.
The Lebanese delegation is scheduled to hold discussions with Iraqi officials centered around reactivating the free trade agreement signed between the two countries in 2002, regulating the handling of sensitive goods, as well as updating the mutual recognition agreement and facilitating the adoption of the results of industrial and food tests issued by Lebanese laboratories.
In parallel, talks are continuing with the Syrian side to address the obstacles facing the crossing of Lebanese goods by land towards Arab markets, within the framework of government efforts aimed at facilitating export movement and enhancing trade exchange.
