US President Donald Trump escalated his criticism of Tehran, accusing it of seeking to manipulate global oil prices ahead of the midterm elections in the United States, by “creating fake attacks” and planting mines in the region.
In a post on the “Truth Social” platform, Trump explained that Iran is making intense efforts to raise crude prices, noting at the same time that the movement of oil flow through the Strait of Hormuz is witnessing rates exceeding the volume of supplies that were transported before the outbreak of the conflict.
Trump’s accusations were not limited to the economic aspect, as he launched a sharp attack on the Iranian regime, describing it as “truly evil,” and expressing his hope that the American people and the international community would be aware of the seriousness of his actions, pointing to the killing of 75,000 protesters in less than seven months, and criticizing what he described as a lack of international and partisan interest in this toll.
The US President concluded his statements with a firm assertion regarding the nuclear file, asserting that Tehran “can never possess a nuclear weapon, and will never possess one.”
These developments come in light of growing fears about the repercussions of the escalating tensions in the Gulf region and the Strait of Hormuz on global energy markets, amid widespread anticipation for any potential repercussions on oil flows and prices.
