Saudi-Emirati coordination sparks an official welcome: unity of position is a safety valve for the region

Lebanese MP Ashraf Rifi welcomed the existing rapprochement between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, considering it a pivotal step to strengthen Arab balance in light of a very sensitive regional stage.

In a tweet posted on the “X” platform, Rifi recalled prominent historical milestones, such as the October War in 1973 and the liberation of Kuwait in 1991, stressing that experiences have proven that Arab and Gulf solidarity represents a fundamental foundation for facing major challenges.

He pointed out that the escalation of regional tensions and the growing risks surrounding the security and sovereignty of countries double the urgent need for strong Saudi-Emirati coordination. He also stressed the importance of the emergence of a unified Arab and Gulf voice to defend common interests and block any attempts to exploit differences to impose regional hegemonic projects.

Rifi stressed that the political, economic and strategic weight enjoyed by Riyadh and Abu Dhabi is doubled through understanding and integration, which reflects positively on the stability of the entire Arab world.

He concluded by emphasizing that “the higher Arab interest requires that differences remain under the umbrella of dialogue, and that unity of position takes precedence over calculations of divergence.”
