The Phalange Party calls on the government to confiscate weapons and impose state authority immediately

The Al-Kutm Party renewed its demand to take strict measures against the security and military system affiliated with Hezbollah, considering that the seizure of the recent explosive shipment and the claim of responsibility issued by members of the party, require the state to take immediate action to protect national security and hold those involved and the authority responsible for them accountable.

This came in the periodic statement of the political bureau of the Lebanese Phalange Party, which was held under the chairmanship of the party’s head, MP Sami Gemayel. The attendees began their meeting by recalling the assassination of Danny Chamoun and the former Director General of the Internal Security Forces, Major General Wissam Al-Hassan, praising the latter’s role in confronting plans to transfer explosives and targeting Lebanese stability.

The statement demanded that the explosives shipment file be immediately referred to the Judicial Council, praising in this context the efforts made by the Minister of Justice to achieve this. He also called on the Lebanese government to translate its decisions to ban Hezbollah’s security and military activities into practice, to begin confiscating weapons and explosives stores, and to extend the sovereignty of the state, the army, and the legitimate forces over the entire Lebanese territory.

The Political Bureau warned against any efforts to involve Lebanon again in what it described as a “new war of support,” stressing the need to prevent the use of Lebanese lands as a platform to serve the Iranian agenda, and to take political, security, and legal measures to prevent the recurrence of scenes of destruction and displacement.

Regarding the economic issue, the statement warned of the danger of expanding what it described as the “illegitimate economy” to include vital sectors that affect the health security of citizens, especially the spread of counterfeit bills, considering that this parallel economy is as dangerous as weapons to the state’s entity.

Regarding the displacement issue, the party criticized Hezbollah’s payment of shelter allowances, considering this practice “open financing of displacement and consolidating its results,” and warning of its repercussions on demographic stability and the possibility of preparing for new waves of displacement and destruction.

The Phalange Party concluded its statement with a stern warning to the government against keeping Lebanon hostage to this crisis reality, stressing that the solution does not lie in managing the repercussions but in ending the roots of the crisis, by turning the page on the war with Israel, securing its withdrawal from Lebanese territory, and ensuring the return of the displaced to their towns in conjunction with the launch of the reconstruction workshop.
