Representative Charbel Massad stressed that protecting the South and preserving the dignity of its people represents a national responsibility that can only be achieved under a strong state capable of extending its sovereignty and protecting all its citizens with its existing institutions.
This came in a tweet published by Massad on the “X” platform, on the occasion of his representation of the President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, in the annual mass in memory of the martyrs of the town of Al-Aishiya, where their sacrifices were honored and a painful episode in Lebanon’s history was recalled.
Massad considered that “the testimony of the martyrs of Al-Aishiya remains a living witness to the suffering of the South and the sacrifices of its people,” calling for mercy for them and for all of Lebanon’s martyrs, and concluding by emphasizing the importance of preserving the South and its people so that Lebanon remains a united, free, sovereign, and strong country with its institutions.
