The olive crisis in Kfarshouba: 25 owners and a one-day deadline angers the people

The municipality of Kafr Shuba and the town mayors announced their categorical rejection of the specific regulatory formula for olive harvesting in the region, warning that it would cause a state of confusion and disagreements among local farmers, as well as potential tension with the people of the town of Shebaa, who were excluded from the decision.

According to the details of the rejected decision, entry to the olive harvest is limited to 100 people and 25 cars only for one day, which allows only about 25 owners to benefit.

The geographical area in which harvesting is allowed extends from the northern side of the Sabya olive tree above the house of Wissam Abdel Ghani, all the way to the homes of the Nasser family, down towards the Dhiyab Ghanem olive tree, and up to Jal al-Hanbal, west of Azrael Road, all the way to the house of Youssef Raheel and Wadi Khansa. On the other hand, harvesting was completely banned in Jepta Road and its eastern regions, in addition to Bastra and Majidiya.

The arrangements imposed mandatory conditions on participants, including bringing personal identification and a cell phone for each owner, while prohibiting wearing military or spotted uniforms, amid the absence of any security or logistical support for farmers from the Lebanese Army or UNIFIL forces.
