The head of the Free Patriotic Movement, Representative Gebran Bassil, categorically denied any connection to the facts in the case circulating in some media regarding the issuance of a judicial ruling against him by American courts in the state of Florida.
Bassil’s media office explained, in a statement, that the relevant American courts had previously ruled to dismiss the lawsuit filed by Lara Mansour and Elie Samaha due to their lack of jurisdiction to consider the dispute, according to a decision issued on March 27, 2023.
The statement confirmed the absence of any connection between Bassil and the facts that are the subject of the judicial file, and the absence of any relationship linking him to those concerned, indicating that the facts themselves had previously been decided before the Lebanese judiciary in his favor, according to a final court ruling convicting both Mansour and Samaha.
Bassil’s office considered that presenting the judicial facts in a selective or partial manner, and ignoring the decisions and rulings issued by the competent judicial authorities, cannot change the established legal truth or create a connection to facts that have nothing to do with it.
The statement concluded by emphasizing Bassil’s rejection of any attempt to insert his name into facts other than their reality, stressing that he reserves all his rights to take appropriate legal measures against anyone proven to have violated his rights or harmed his reputation.
