The Minister of Information, Paul Morcos, conveyed the firm position of the Prime Minister, Nawaf Salam, regarding the explosives truck that was recently seized in the Dahr al-Baidar area, stressing that “truth and accountability” are the title of following up on this case, leading to exposing all those involved and the parties behind them and referring them to the judiciary.
Morcos explained, quoting Salam, that the truck was stopped a few days ago while on its way from the Bekaa to the Greater Beirut area, noting that it was loaded with hundreds of kilograms of explosive materials, including the highly explosive C4.
In the same context, the Prime Minister saluted the security forces for their success in stopping the suspicious truck, seizing the explosive materials, and referring its drivers to the competent authorities for investigation.
Salam expressed his understanding of the Lebanese people’s concern as a result of the spread of news of the truck’s arrest and the materials it was transporting, especially since “C4” was used in a number of political assassinations in Lebanon’s modern history.
The Prime Minister stressed the importance of following up on the investigation and expanding it, stressing by saying: “From my position as Prime Minister, I ask all the Lebanese to be confident that we will not be complacent in following up on the investigation and expanding it, in order to determine the identity of all those involved in this criminal operation and those behind them, reveal their plans and goals, and refer them all to the judiciary to receive the punishment they deserve.”
The Minister of Information concluded by conveying the Prime Minister’s position by emphasizing that the government will not tolerate anyone who dares to tamper with the country’s security, safety, and stability, and will deal with any weapon outside the framework of legitimacy, whether in possession, transfer, or use, with the required firmness.
