Within the framework of the Lebanese positions in solidarity with Riyadh, the Lebanese-Saudi Business Council condemned the repeated Houthi attacks that targeted the territory of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, especially the terrorist attacks that targeted King Khalid International Airport, stressing that compromising the Kingdom’s security represents a direct threat to the stability of the region and its economic and security interests.
The Council explained in its statement that targeting civilian facilities and endangering the lives of citizens and residents is a dangerous escalation that requires a firm Arab and international stance in solidarity with the Kingdom. Stressing that these attacks do not only target the security of Saudis, but also affect millions residing in its lands, considering that the stability of the Kingdom constitutes the basic foundation of political and economic stability in the Arab world.
The Council drew attention to the pivotal role that Riyadh plays in securing energy supplies and global trade and investment, which makes protecting its security a common strategic interest for the countries and peoples of the region, given the continuous support it provides to Arab economies and development projects.
In the same context, the head of the Lebanese-Saudi Business Council, Raouf Abu Zaki, stressed that solidarity with the Kingdom embodies a “position of loyalty” to a country that has always stood by Lebanon and the Arab world in the most difficult circumstances, noting that Saudi support for Lebanon extended for decades and included the state and its institutions, as well as major economic and humanitarian investments and initiatives.
Abu Zaki added that the historical ties and common interests that bring together the Lebanese and Saudi peoples make Lebanon directly concerned with the Kingdom’s security, stability, and prosperity.
The Council concluded its statement by offering its deep condolences to the leadership and people of Saudi Arabia and to the families of the victims, wishing a speedy recovery for the injured, and reiterating its categorical rejection of any infringement on the sovereignty of Saudi Arabia and the safety of its residents.
This position comes within a series of Lebanese statements issued in solidarity with Riyadh in light of the recent escalation that affected Saudi civilian facilities and airports, amid increasing warnings of the seriousness of the repercussions of these attacks on the security of the Gulf and the region as a whole.
