Fall "Capital guard" In the hands of the Syrian security services

Today, Saturday, the Syrian Internal Security Forces announced the arrest of former Brigadier General of the Republican Guard, Mard Muhammad, nicknamed the “Capital Guard,” on charges of assuming field leadership roles during the military operations carried out by the forces of the former regime in the Damascus countryside.

The security forces explained, through a statement published on their channel on the “Telegram” platform, that the detainee participated on the ground in military operations in several areas, including Qaboun, Al-Hamah, Wadi Barada, Qudsaya, Ain Tarma, and Jobar, in addition to his participation in leading operations called “God’s promise is true.” She confirmed that investigations are still underway with the accused to complete the collection of evidence and facts attributed to him, in preparation for taking the necessary legal and judicial measures against him.

This arrest comes as an extension of a previous security campaign carried out by the competent authorities last September 19, which resulted in the arrest of former Major General Ahmed Mohamed Ismail, who was described as one of the leaders of the first rank in the Republican Guard during the era of the previous regime.

According to the military records of the arrested Major General Ismail, he rose to several leadership positions, starting with a platoon commander, then leading a company in the 2nd Battalion of the 101st Airborne Regiment, all the way to his appointment as head of operations for the same regiment in early 2016, indicating his direct involvement in leading military operations in Aleppo, Daraa, and Eastern Ghouta.
