Representative and former Minister of Energy, Nada Al-Bustani, launched a sharp attack on the Minister of Energy and Water, Joe Al-Sadi, criticizing his position on the gasoline tax and the decision to increase the price of private generators by 10%.
Al-Bustani said in a post on the “X” platform that Minister Al-Sadi “is selling us imaginary achievements by canceling the gasoline tax that he did not pay in the first place,” noting that he “with the stroke of a pen, increased the price of generators by 10% under the pretext of a network longer than 300 meters.”
She considered that this decision would enable generator owners to achieve additional annual profits exceeding $300 million, asking: “For whose benefit is this increase?” She added, “Corruption is destroying the country, and the citizen pays the price out of his pocket,” pointing out that this measure was previously rejected because it “opens room for manipulation and corruption,” as she put it.
This escalation comes within the framework of an ongoing political and service debate over the pricing of private generators, coinciding with the ongoing debate regarding the 300,000 liras fee on gasoline, which the Minister of Energy had requested to be canceled or suspended.
