Beirut – This morning, the General Directorate of Public Security organized the twentieth phase of the Lebanese government’s plan aimed at ensuring the orderly return of displaced Syrians to their country, in cooperation with a number of international and humanitarian organizations.
A statement issued by the Directorate’s Information Affairs Office explained that the departure process began from the designated assembly point in the “Bial” complex in the capital, Beirut, in preparation for the movement of the displaced towards Syrian territory through the Masnaa border center affiliated with the Secretary-General.
The statement indicated that the implementation of this phase took place in joint coordination with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), the International Organization for Migration (IOM), in addition to the Lebanese Red Cross and a group of other humanitarian bodies.
This step comes as a continuation of the Lebanese government’s plan for the voluntary and organized return of displaced Syrians from Lebanon, the successive stages of which the General Directorate of Public Security is undertaking on the ground in cooperation with the relevant local and international bodies.
