The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants, Youssef Raji, launched the biometric fingerprint service for the Lebanese passport from the Lebanese Embassy in Washington, in the presence of the Lebanese Ambassador to the United States, Nada Hamada Moawad. This step comes within the framework of the Ministry’s efforts to facilitate consular transactions for Lebanese residing abroad, and enable them to obtain their passports in their countries of residence at a lower cost and in a shorter time.
During the launch ceremony, Minister Raji expressed his happiness at returning to the embassy where he took over the management of political affairs between 1995 and 1999, expressing his enthusiasm in meeting a number of employees with whom he worked during that period. He stressed that this service goes beyond being a purely administrative procedure to constitute a real commitment to the Lebanese communities that represent a living extension of the country.
Raji explained that the Lebanese citizen can now obtain his passport in his country of residence, bypassing the hassle of travel, waiting, and the complications of previous transactions. He stressed that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates continues to modernize its services and bring them closer to expatriates, stressing that “a state that respects its citizens is by their side everywhere.”
Minister Raji concluded by saying that the Lebanese expatriates are an integral part of the nation, stressing that their dignity, rights, and service stand at the core of the ministry’s work alongside Lebanon’s sovereignty and stability in diplomatic movements, given that a strong state is one that safeguards its sovereignty at home and preserves the dignity of its people abroad.
In a separate context, during his visit, Minister Raji held a meeting at the embassy with a number of Lebanese media professionals residing in Washington, during which he reviewed the results of his visit and the conversations he held with American officials, as well as highlighting the most prominent priorities of Lebanese diplomacy for the next stage.
