The field and logistical challenges facing the military institution in carrying out its missions on all Lebanese territories formed the focus of a series of meetings held by the Army Commander, General Rudolph Heikal, in his office in the Yarzeh region, where the discussions focused on local and regional developments, ways to enhance cooperation between the army and the people, and the vital role of expatriates in supporting it.
In this context, General Heikal received an American delegation that included Congress members Darren Lahoud and Josh Gottheimer, accompanied by a number of officials. During the meeting, they reviewed the latest political and security developments in Lebanon and the region, and discussed ways to overcome the difficulties and obstacles that obstruct the work of the army while performing its national duties. For his part, Representative Lahoud appreciated the great sacrifices made by the military, highlighting the pivotal role played by the military institution in maintaining internal security and stability.
Within the framework of continuous communication with local authorities, the Army Commander met with the Governor of the South, Mansour Daou, who praised the strength of the existing cooperation between military units and the people, stressing that the institution stands by the citizens in light of the current circumstances.
On the expatriate level, General Heikal received the Secretary-General of the American Lebanese Council (ALC), Elias Youssef Maroun, who conveyed to him the Lebanese community’s support for the military establishment and its readiness to support it. In turn, the Army Commander praised the tireless efforts made to strengthen the ties between expatriate children and their motherland.
These moves come as a result of the army leadership’s keenness to keep pace with field and operational challenges, and to institutionalize channels of joint cooperation with various official and local authorities, as well as to expand the circle of expatriate support to stand alongside the military institution in its national tasks.
