Tehran – Muhammad Mokhber, advisor to Iranian leader Mojtaba Khamenei, issued a strong warning today, Friday, stressing that depriving Tehran of operating its flights and airport services will be met with depriving the entire region of these rights.
An informant said, in a post on the “X” platform, that “identification with the United States in implementing hostile policies will remain firmly established in the memory of the Iranian people,” stressing that his country’s strategy is clear and based on the principle: “Either freedom of flight in the region will be available to everyone or it will not be available to anyone.” He added, warning: “If Iran is deprived of the right to fly and receive airport services, no other country in the region will enjoy this right either.”
This position comes in conjunction with the tightening pressure on the Iranian aviation sector regionally. The director of the airport in the city of Najaf in southern Iraq confirmed to Agence France-Presse, today, Friday, the suspension of Iranian airline flights under US sanctions, following similar measures witnessed at Baghdad International Airport.
In the same context, Iraqi sources confirmed this week that the government of Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi intends to adhere to the embargo imposed by Washington on the Iranian aviation sector. Also at the regional level, the General Civil Aviation Authority of the United Arab Emirates announced the suspension of Iranian airline flights to and from its territory until further notice, in addition to similar steps taken by several countries.
On the other hand, small Iranian airlines continue to maintain a minimum of their foreign operations, especially towards China, which has refused to yield to American pressure, in addition to Armenia.
