Members of the Lebanese Civil Defense accompanied a coastal and marine cleaning campaign in the Raouche area, as part of the “Clean for the Seals” activity aimed at protecting the marine environment and preserving the habitats of the Mediterranean monk seal.
The General Directorate of Civil Defense explained, in a statement issued by the Department of Information and Public Relations, that this event was held on the occasion of World Cleanup Day 2026, with broad participation from a number of agencies and associations concerned with environmental affairs.
The initiative included carrying out comprehensive cleaning operations that extended along the coast and deep into the sea, in a step aimed at reducing marine pollution and preserving the vital ecosystems associated with the monk seal.
The civil defense teams accompanied the participants on the field and ensured all public safety requirements to ensure that the campaign work proceeded within the necessary preventive measures.
This activity comes in the context of environmental initiatives coinciding with World Cleanup Day, while the Civil Defense’s participation embodies its commitment to supporting and keeping pace with activities aimed at protecting beaches and the marine environment in Lebanon.
