An atmosphere of field tension and anticipation prevails in the regions of southern Lebanon, following renewed military actions and attacks, in conjunction with the continued field efforts of the Lebanese Army and UNIFIL forces to contain the situation.
In field details, a correspondent for the “Lebanon Debate” website reported that a violent explosion had been recorded in the Mays al-Jabal area, coinciding with an artillery shelling targeting the vicinity of the towns of Beit Yahoun and Bara’shit in the eastern sector, without any injuries or material damage being immediately recorded.
In a related context, separate explosions were heard in the Nabatieh area, which later turned out to be the result of engineering explosions carried out by the Lebanese army in the Marj Mifidoun area.
These developments come in light of the continuing repercussions of military confrontations on the border villages near the Blue Line, which are most affected by the volatile security situation.
The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) warned on September 22 that local communities in the south are still suffering from the consequences of the conflict, stressing that it will continue to conduct its patrols and keep channels of communication open with all parties to reduce the risks of misunderstanding and prevent any further escalation, in continued cooperation with the Lebanese army amid extremely delicate security conditions.
