US President Donald Trump announced that US government documents will adopt the term “superior intelligence” instead of “artificial intelligence,” expressing his aspiration for this term to become a global standard.
Trump explained, in a speech before the United Nations General Assembly, that describing technology as “artificial” suggests that it is false, despite it being “amazing and real,” stressing at the same time the importance of dealing with it with extreme caution and attention.
Regarding the regulatory issue, Trump affirmed a clear rejection of any efforts to impose a “global” framework to control this technology. He stressed that his administration would work to stimulate and support the development of “super-intelligence” rather than curb it, while subjecting it to close oversight by the Ministry of Justice and intervening when needed.
The American President concluded by emphasizing his country’s global leadership in this field, pledging to continue developing it in a safe and responsible manner, noting that the American people are accustomed to pioneering new horizons and not backing down in the face of challenges, no matter how serious they are.
