The Ansar Allah movement (Houthis) in Yemen announced that Saudi warplanes carried out 157 air strikes and missile strikes during the past 24 hours, targeting four Yemeni governorates, coinciding with the escalation in the intensity of military confrontations between the two sides.
In a statement published through official accounts on Monday evening, the military spokesman for the Houthis, Brigadier General Yahya Saree, explained that the raids and strikes targeted the governorates of Al-Jawf, Taiz, Saada, and Marib. He pointed out that the operations were carried out with F-15 and Typhoon fighter jets launched from the Khamis Mushait and Taif bases, while the missile strikes were launched from the Najran and Jizan regions.
Saree revealed that the total toll of raids and missile strikes since the start of the latest escalation amounted to 917 strikes, warning that this escalation “will not pass without a response.”
This escalation comes in the wake of widespread regional and international interest, following the announcement by the Saudi-led coalition to support legitimacy in Yemen, last Wednesday, of intercepting and destroying a drone launched by the Houthis towards Mecca before it penetrated prohibited airspace, which sparked a widespread wave of condemnation in the Islamic world.
On the other hand, the leader of the movement, Abdul-Malik al-Houthi, rejected these accusations, considering them “slander and misleading,” and at the same time demanding the formation of an Islamic coalition to confront Israel.
