Military sources affiliated with the Houthis revealed to Agence France-Presse on Saturday that experts from the Iranian Revolutionary Guard made a field visit to the Bab al-Mandab region and surrounding sites, with the aim of supervising military activities and developing monitoring and fortification capabilities.
The sources explained that the visits, which were conducted separately between Thursday and Friday and started from Hodeidah Governorate, included the Bab al-Mandab area, the port and airport of Mokha, in addition to the Jabal al-Nar camp located east of Mokha.
According to the same sources, Iranian experts supervised the work of digging tunnels in the mountain hills overlooking the cities of Mokha and Bab al-Mandab, in addition to examining mechanisms for installing radars near Mokha and on Zuqar Island, located in the southern Red Sea.
In the related field context, Yemeni government sources confirmed to the same agency, on Saturday, that there had been an intensification of the intensity of battles between government forces and the Houthis in the vicinity of the Kahboub Mountains area overlooking the strategic Bab al-Mandab Strait.
This development comes in light of the sharp escalation witnessed in the conflict in Yemen since last July, coinciding with the repercussions of the ongoing war in the Middle East between Iran and the United States.
