A joint Saudi-French statement confirmed the agreement to intensify efforts to reach a final solution to the conflict in Lebanon, which requires strengthening the Lebanese state and its institutions and preserving Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The statement praised the steps taken by the President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, and the government headed by Nawaf Salam to rebuild state institutions and extend state authority.
He also affirmed the commitment to support the Lebanese Armed Forces and security forces, with the aim of enabling them to fully carry out their national responsibilities.
The statement stressed the importance of fully implementing UN Security Council Resolution 1701, and the necessity of completing the disarmament of all armed groups, in addition to Israel’s complete withdrawal from all Lebanese territory.
