One million dollars in Ain El-Tineh...large projects to the public

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Nabih Berri, received, at the headquarters of the Second Presidency in Ain al-Tineh, the Director General of Customs, Gracia Al-Qazzi, who presented with him the work of the Directorate in its various departments and the files related to its tasks.

Berri also received the distinguished Jaafari Mufti Sheikh Ahmed Qabalan, and discussed with him the general situation and the latest political and field developments, in addition to a number of national affairs.

Regarding the development file of the capital, the Speaker of the House of Representatives received a delegation from the Municipal Council of Beirut, headed by Ibrahim Zidane, in the presence of a member of the “Development and Liberation” bloc, MP Muhammad Khawaja, where the meeting discussed the conditions of the capital, the work programs of the Municipal Council, and the projects scheduled to be implemented during the next phase.

After the meeting, Zidane explained that the visit aimed to introduce Berri to the work of the Municipal Council and what it accomplished during a year, especially the founding work and preparation for the tenders that will be referred to the Public Procurement Authority.

He pointed out that these tenders include roads, infrastructure, tree rehabilitation, and parking lots, pointing out that they will soon be presented publicly and in accordance with transparency and competition mechanisms.

Zidane revealed that among the anticipated projects is a major infrastructure tender worth more than $25 million, in addition to a tender to address pollution and other health and development projects.

He concluded by noting that the delegation thanked Berri for his continued support for the capital, Beirut, especially during the period it went through in light of the Israeli attacks.

These moves come at a time when the Beirut Municipality seeks to launch a group of postponed projects and development files related to infrastructure and services, amid major financial and administrative challenges facing the capital and the need to rehabilitate a number of its vital facilities.
