The Political Council of the “Free Patriotic Movement” held its regular meeting, headed by Representative Gebran Bassil, where it discussed its agenda and issued a statement in which it addressed the issues of negotiation and sovereignty, and Benjamin Netanyahu’s position on the Christian border villages, in addition to the living and economic conditions.
The “current” considered that negotiating to restore rights and sovereignty is a duty and necessary, and it is the responsibility of the state alone at home and abroad, warning at the same time against division that opens the door to strife, which remains the greatest danger to Lebanon.
The “current” believed that it was and still is possible to improve the conditions to ensure Israel’s commitment to withdrawal, and to impose clear obligations on it regarding Lebanon’s rights, and not just impose dictates on Lebanon.
The “current” denounced the words of Benjamin Netanyahu, who tried to push the Christian border villages and their people into suspicious projects, stressing that the patriotic position of the villagers and their activists, adhering to Lebanon, confirms that their steadfastness is a sign of patriotism and rootedness in the land.
Regarding the livelihood issue, the “current” considered that the increase in high prices and the stifling burden of living are a direct result of financial and economic policies and the absence of effective oversight, which reflects the continued governmental confusion, random decisions, and the absence of a comprehensive vision to protect citizens from the repercussions of high prices and monopoly.
