A military source confirmed to “Lebanon Debate” that some of the positions raised yesterday regarding the Lebanese military delegation’s refusal to take a memorial photo with the Israeli delegation express a misreading of the nature of the mission entrusted to the delegation and the sensitivity of the stage that Lebanon is going through.
The source explains that the success of any negotiations is measured by the results they achieve that serve Lebanon, not by commemorative photos or protocol appearances.
The source adds that the blood of the martyred soldiers who fell as a result of the deliberate Israeli attacks has not yet dried, and that the effects of the aggression are still present in many Lebanese regions, which requires taking into account the feelings of the Lebanese and committing to what is consistent with the size of the sacrifices made in defense of the homeland.
The military source also indicated to “Lebanon Debate” that the military delegation adheres to the highest levels of professionalism and discipline, and deals with its mission with full responsibility to achieve the highest national interest, far from any media or propaganda considerations.
