In light of the ongoing political and diplomatic movement to contain the escalation in Lebanon and the region, Representative Ibrahim Kanaan received the US Ambassador to Lebanon, Michel Issa, where the meeting discussed the current security and political developments, and the efforts made to stabilize the ceasefire and advance negotiations towards ending the war and achieving stability.

The meeting was held at Kanaan’s house in the town of Bayada, in the presence of a number of stakeholders, where the situation in Lebanon and the region was presented, in light of the continuing escalation and challenges facing the country at the security, political and economic levels.

According to the information, the research focused on the official Lebanese and American efforts aimed at establishing a ceasefire, and continuing diplomatic efforts to push the negotiations forward with the aim of stopping the war and preventing the expansion of the confrontation in the region.

The meeting also discussed the importance of strengthening international support for Lebanon during this sensitive stage, especially supporting Lebanese state institutions, especially the Lebanese army, in a way that contributes to strengthening internal stability and protecting the country from the repercussions of regional escalation.
The attendees stressed the necessity of extending the authority of the Lebanese state over the entire Lebanese territory, in light of the escalating security challenges and pressures facing Lebanon as a result of field developments in the south and the region.
This meeting comes within the framework of a series of contacts and political and diplomatic meetings taking place in the Lebanese arena in the last stage, in parallel with the intensification of international efforts aimed at containing tension and preventing the situation from sliding towards a broader confrontation.
It also coincides with continued American movements towards Lebanese officials, in an attempt to support the path of calm and strengthen the role of official institutions, especially the military institution, amid continuing tension on the southern border and the exchange of military messages between Israel and Hezbollah.
