US President Donald Trump signed a regulatory document related to artificial intelligence, during a meeting held with an elite group of leaders in this sector and CEOs of technology companies. Trump considered that the document provides “a form of protection” and represents a moral obligation.
Trump described the meeting as “very productive” and took place in a “friendly atmosphere,” praising the participants and describing them as “the smartest and most brilliant in the world.” He stressed his administration’s keenness to ensure the safety of the sector and maintain American leadership and superiority in it, pointing out that the administration is currently studying a proposal to form a committee specialized in supervision and follow-up.
The US President pointed out that the artificial intelligence sector is currently witnessing “massive self-censorship,” indicating that leaders in this field are well aware of the extent of their responsibilities. He also announced the signing of a document aimed at changing the current name “artificial intelligence,” considering that the description “artificial” is no longer accurate or appropriate for the current stage, and that discussions with technology giants aim to make this field safer and more efficient.
