Minister of Social Affairs, Haneen Al-Sayed, confirmed that the government will continue to implement relief efforts in conjunction with the security escalation and increasing displacement, stressing the full commitment to transparency in the management of aid and services provided to the displaced and affected people.
In a statement from Al-Saraya, Al-Sayed announced that the shelter centers continue to “provide daily services and food in all centers without interruption,” calling on families on the roads to “move immediately to the Sports City,” which she described as “a safe center that includes 100 equipped tents, in addition to meals and health services.”
She explained that the center is run by the Lebanese Red Cross and protected by the Lebanese Army.
Regarding the aid file, Al-Sayed revealed the arrival of $248 million from 33 countries, in addition to 4,000 tons of in-kind materials so far, noting that $23 million had been disbursed through the Southern Council to secure diesel and urgent aid.
It also announced the launch of a comprehensive electronic platform on Friday, aiming to display “all the numbers and details of aid distribution,” in a move that it said comes within the government’s commitment to transparency.
On the National Day of Mourning, Al-Sayyed offered her condolences to “the families of the martyred journalists who sacrificed to convey the truth,” concluding her statement by saying: “May God protect Lebanon.”
