Shortly before the final whistle, French star Kylian Mbappe worried the fans by leaving the field during his team’s Real Madrid match against Real Betis in the Spanish League.
In the 80th minute, the French national team captain stopped running and asked his coach, Alvaro Arbeloa, to replace him, without showing any signs of injury or violent interference.
Mbappé left the field in pain, and was replaced by young player Goncalo Garcia in the 81st minute.
This event represents a wake-up call for the French national team, about six weeks before the start of the 2026 World Cup in America, Canada and Mexico, a tournament that is considered the team’s ultimate goal this season.
Regarding Mbappé’s condition, Arbeloa stated in the press conference, saying: “I don’t know. He was feeling pain. We hope that things will develop positively in the coming days,” and he did not provide any other details.
