In a gesture that reflects an implicit position, the players of the Iranian women’s football team adhered to complete silence during the playing of the national anthem at the beginning of their match in the Women’s Asian Cup held in Australia. This was the first appearance of the Iranian national team since the outbreak of recent events.

All the Iranian players stood in complete silence, with their eyes fixed forward, during the playing of the national anthem, before the start of their first group match against the South Korean team, which ended with the South Korean team winning 3-0 in the match that was held at the Gold Coast Stadium in the state of Queensland.

After the match, the Iranian national team coach, Marzieh Jafari, and her players refused to make any comments about the ongoing war or the death of the Iranian leader, Ali Khamenei, during their statements to the media.
