Trump hints that the tension with Iran will soon end, one way or another

US President Donald Trump expected, at dawn on Saturday, that the conflict with Iran would be resolved in the near future “one way or another,” expressing the complications facing the US administration in determining channels of communication with Tehran following the killing of the majority of Iranian leaders. During an election campaign in Alabama, Trump reiterated the firmness of the American position rejecting Iran’s possession of any nuclear weapons.

In a related context, Trump pointed out that Iran is witnessing a “very difficult situation,” expecting oil prices to return to their previous levels once the conflict is settled.

At the energy market level, Trump settled the controversy by announcing that the United States would not impose a ban on diesel exports, hours after the G7 countries decided to withdraw their emergency reserves of crude oil and its derivatives. In response to reporters at the White House, Trump explained that the idea of banning exports was not on the table in practice, praising the European step and its significant contribution to stabilizing global supplies.

It is noteworthy that Trump had expressed his support for the idea of the ban on September 22nd, before he stated on Thursday that the administration was still studying the option, reaching the final decision not to impose restrictions on exports and to be satisfied with the necessary measures.

On Friday, the G7 countries reached an agreement to pump 100 million barrels of crude oil and diesel from their strategic reserves over a period of four months, in an effort to contain the supply crisis and calm global markets in light of the repercussions of the ongoing war.
