Your phone reveals risks: Are your passwords safe?

In light of the increasing cybersecurity risks, passwords for email, shopping sites, or social media accounts may have been leaked without their owners’ knowledge. On the other hand, iPhone and Android phones provide built-in tools that help users discover these vulnerabilities and secure their accounts.

According to a recent report, iPhone devices are distinguished by their ability to alert users as soon as one of the saved passwords appears in known data leaks, in addition to their ability to monitor weak passwords or those that are reused across multiple accounts.

In the same context, Google provides a similar function through the “Google Password Manager” tool and the “Password Checkup” feature, which examine saved passwords and notify users if they are compromised, weak, or duplicate.

The greatest danger lies in reusing the same password, as leaking it from one platform or service gives hackers the opportunity to try it and hack the user’s email or social media accounts and other services.

To avoid these risks, it is recommended to periodically check the passwords saved on smartphones, and change any passwords found to have been compromised, while avoiding using the same password for more than one account. It is also recommended to rely on “passkeys” whenever they are available to enhance the level of security.
