The rent crisis ignites Beirut's street with an anticipated sit-in

The “Gathering of Rented Building Owners” called for organizing a massive sit-in in Riad Solh Square in central Beirut, on Tuesday, November 10, 2026, at twelve noon, in conjunction with the session of the Parliamentary Administration and Justice Committee.

This protest movement comes against the backdrop of the controversy surrounding possible amendments to the rent law, as the group announced its categorical rejection of any legislative amendments that might affect the rights of old owners or lead to their being diminished, considering that this perpetuates the continuation of what it described as “the injustice done to them,” and stressing the importance of preserving their legal rights.

In the same context, the group called on the Lebanese state to fulfill its legal obligations by paying the financial dues owed to the owners since the issuance of the law until today, stressing that this money has not been disbursed to them until now.
