The Board of Directors of the Electricité du Liban Corporation announced, in a statement, that as part of the ongoing campaign to cut off power to public departments, institutions, and municipalities that are delinquent in paying dues, a large number of concerned parties arrived during the third day of the campaign to review the arrears schedules and reconcile invoices and receipts in preparation for settling their financial situations.
The Council explained that the settlements are made according to the mechanism approved by the Corporation, which stipulates that electricity supply will be restored exclusively after paying a first payment, and submitting a written pledge specifying how to pay the remaining amounts, with a commitment to paying monthly bills regularly.
The Council stressed that “contrary to what some people are circulating,” the supply was not restored to any party without adhering to the aforementioned conditions, stressing that all cases of reconnection were carried out in accordance with applicable standards.
In the same context, the Council denied adopting any unofficial regulations circulated through the media that include the names of departments or institutions, or numbers and amounts of money, calling for accuracy and relying exclusively on data issued by the Electricité du Liban.
The statement indicated that the campaign aims to collect dues, improve collection, and establish regularity in paying bills, pointing out that announcing claims and warnings through the media falls within the framework of informing the concerned authorities and informing public opinion of the procedures in a professional, responsible manner and without any show-off.
The Council concluded by expressing its thanks to all parties that responded and cooperated with the campaign, praising the efforts of the Corporation’s employees and the concerned teams, stressing that follow-up will continue until all arrears are collected, while warning that any breach of settlements or failure to pay monthly bills will be met with an immediate re-cut of power.
