Why does the H+ symbol appear on Samsung phones and what does it mean?

The appearance of the “H+” sign next to the network indicator on Samsung phones raises many questions among users about its actual meaning and its relationship to Internet speeds.

In this context, a report published by the “Engadget” website stated that this sign indicates that the phone is connected to the “HSPA+” network, which is an advanced technology based on the third generation, and provides higher connection speeds compared to the traditional “H” network, but it remains below the speeds of the fourth generation (4G) and fifth generation (5G) networks.

The report explained that the appearance of this sign is mostly due to weak 4G coverage in some geographical areas, or the phone automatically resorting to older networks instead of “LTE” technology, stressing that this does not necessarily reflect the presence of any technical malfunction in the phone or the communication card (SIM).

It is expected that this brand will witness a gradual decline in the future, in conjunction with the continued modernization of communications network infrastructure, and the global trend towards dispensing with third generation technologies in favor of more advanced fourth and fifth generation networks.
