Kfardebian is preparing to host the 2028 Asian Alpine Skiing Championships

The selection of the “Mzaar Kfardebian” resort to host the 2028 Asian Alpine Skiing Championships confirms its position as one of the most prominent winter destinations in the region, thanks to the natural and geographical components it possesses that qualify it to host major sporting competitions. This hosting provides an important opportunity to promote tourism in Lebanon and highlight its organizational capabilities by receiving sports, administrative and artistic delegations, as well as media and followers from various Asian countries.

The Lebanese tourism sector, especially hotels, restaurants and institutions operating during the winter season, is counting on this vital event to stimulate tourism and economic activity, benefiting from the expected attendance of visitors and participants.

This choice does not come out of nowhere, as Lebanon previously successfully hosted the championship in 2022, which witnessed a historic achievement by Lebanese skater Manoun Owais, after she won two gold medals in the slalom and giant slalom races, which confirms the ability of national talent to compete with the continent’s elite athletes. This achievement increases the level of aspirations that Lebanese athletes will invest in the field and public workers in the 2028 edition to provide honorable levels of competition.

The importance of the event is not limited to sports competitions and medals only, but also extends to being an occasion to revive interest in winter sports and encourage younger generations to practice them. The tournament also constitutes an incentive for the relevant sports authorities to intensify technical and organizational preparations and provide ideal preparation conditions for the Lebanese national team.

With this entitlement, Lebanon is preparing to return strongly to the forefront of Asian sporting events, embodying integrated national, tourism and sporting dimensions that are commensurate with its long history in the sport of skiing.
