A member of the “Loyalty to the Resistance” parliamentary bloc, MP Ibrahim al-Moussawi, affirmed that dignity represents a fundamental value in the lives of peoples and nations, stressing the “resistance community’s” adherence to its dignity and its right to defend its land, based on its absolute faith and complete rejection of submission and humiliation.
During his speech at the annual celebration of the martyrs of the town of Al-Alaq in western Baalbek, in the presence of a crowd of religious scholars, families of martyrs, and municipal, optional, social and party events, Al-Moussawi addressed the concept of the state and its responsibilities, considering that “the true state is the one that protects its people and provides them with security and stability.”
He believed that the performance of the Lebanese authority raises serious questions about the extent to which it is fulfilling its national duties, considering that what is happening reflects the reality of a “non-state authority” capable of protecting its citizens and preserving their rights, especially in light of the continuing Israeli attacks on the south. He criticized the course of the negotiations, noting that their continuation despite successive concessions and the absence of results raises major question marks, denouncing what he described as “continuous retreat in the face of American and Israeli pressure.”
Al-Moussawi stressed that national, moral and humanitarian responsibility requires defending the rights of the Lebanese and protecting their lands, pointing out that previous experiences and occupation attacks require a serious review of the authority’s performance and its ability to carry out its responsibilities. He described dealing with the environment of resistance as a “shameful matter,” morally, logically, and popularly, pointing out that the state was supposed to take pride in its children who bore the burdens of confrontation, not prosecute, convict, and throw them before the judiciary.
He explained that the resistance was forced to bear responsibilities imposed by the conditions of aggression and occupation in the absence of the required role of the state, concluding by stressing that the “resistance environment” will remain committed to its principles and will not allow media campaigns or political pressures to undermine its will, calling for a comprehensive political review that guarantees the protection of Lebanon and the authority’s embrace of this environment and appreciation of its sacrifices instead of targeting it.
