The White House and Wall Street struggle over North Sea oil between Trump and Bernam

US President Donald Trump announced on Friday that he discussed the issue of oil exploitation in the North Sea during a phone conversation with British Prime Minister Andy Burnham.

In statements he made to reporters at the White House before heading to Florida to launch an electoral tour in preparation for the midterm elections scheduled for November 3, Trump said: “They are opening the way to extract oil in the North Sea. I have been pushing in this direction for two years, and Andy is working to accomplish that.”

This comes after Trump’s previous praise, the day before yesterday, for the British efforts made in oil exploration in the North Sea, which culminated in the approval of the “Jackdaw” gas field project, which put an end to judicial and political disputes that continued for years. In the same context, British officials explained that a decision on the fate of the “Rosbank” field, the largest in terms of oil reserves, has not yet been decided.
