The Minister of Finance, Yassin Jaber, received a member of the “Development and Liberation” bloc, MP Qasim Hashem, where the file of the entitlements of property owners occupied by the International Emergency Forces operating in southern Lebanon (UNIFIL) was presented.
During the meeting, Representative Hashem called for giving this file a top priority, criticizing the government’s delay in fulfilling its obligations towards the people of the southern regions, especially in light of the current harsh conditions. He stressed that the decline in the value of dues and the continued procrastination for years is unacceptable, stressing the need for citizens to obtain their rights without delay.
For his part, the Minister of Finance expressed his keenness to follow up on this issue, and issued directives to the relevant departments in the ministry to work immediately to prepare all requirements for property owners, in coordination with the relevant ministries, to ensure that the dues are paid to their owners as soon as possible.
