70 displaced Syrians left Lebanese territory through the Masnaa border crossing, as part of the implementation of the twenty-second phase of the Lebanese government’s plan aimed at organizing the voluntary return of displaced Syrians.
The Lebanese General Directorate of Public Security supervised the management and security of the operation through the Masnaa border post, and this was done in full coordination with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), the International Organization for Migration (IOM), and the Lebanese Red Cross, in addition to a number of concerned humanitarian organizations.
This stage included providing the necessary administrative and logistical facilities to the returnees, ensuring that operations proceed flexibly and safely, in the context of ongoing efforts to organize voluntary return according to precise coordination frameworks between official Lebanese authorities and international organizations.
This step falls within a series of continuous stages implemented by the Lebanese state to deal with the Syrian displacement issue, and to ensure a safe and orderly return for those wishing to return to their homeland through official border crossings.
