The UAE Government Cybersecurity Council announced the continuation of diligent national efforts to monitor and confront cyber threats, in light of the escalation of attack attempts targeting a number of vital sectors in the country, specifically the energy and education sectors.
Yesterday, Tuesday, the Council revealed that the national cybersecurity system succeeded during the recent period in monitoring and responding to about 750,000 cyber attack attempts. These attacks varied to include attempts to execute code commands remotely, distributed denial-of-service attacks, and phishing attempts, in addition to attacks supported by artificial intelligence techniques and other advanced types of threats.
The Council stressed that monitoring and response operations are carried out within an integrated national system based on continuous monitoring, early detection, advanced analysis, and proactive response, in full coordination with the relevant national authorities, which contributes to protecting the digital infrastructure and raising the level of cyber readiness and resilience of vital sectors.
In the same context, the Council clarified that the increase in the number of observed cyberattack attempts does not necessarily indicate the occurrence of successful hacks, but rather demonstrates the efficiency of national capabilities in monitoring threats, dealing with them with high efficiency, and reducing their risks to ensure the continuity of digital services without interruption.
The Cyber Security Council stressed that the UAE is continuing to develop its national capabilities in this field by employing advanced technologies and artificial intelligence, as well as enhancing integration and joint cooperation between the various concerned parties, in a way that raises the efficiency of the cyber defense system and ensures that it keeps pace with advanced threats with all capabilities.
