The Portuguese Football Federation announced today, Saturday, the temporary suspension of national team captain Cristiano Ronaldo, and that disciplinary measures were taken against him, following his sudden departure from the national team camp during the international break.
This decision came after a dispute broke out between the player and technical director Jorge Jesus, centered around the nature of Ronaldo’s participation and his technical role within the national team, which prompted the player to leave the camp without completing the assembly.
For his part, Ronaldo explained through his official account on the “Instagram” platform that his decision to leave came after the coach’s press conference and a conversation with the President of the Portuguese Federation, stressing that he would reveal the details and reasons behind his decision at the appropriate time.
This development and disciplinary measure opens the door to questions about the future of Ronaldo’s international career with the Seleção, especially in light of the federation and the technical staff’s previous keenness to keep the door open for his return to the national team.
