The Israeli Ambassador to the United States, Yechiel Leiter, announced that his son, the reserve soldier “Neria,” is still connected to life support in the hospital, after he was seriously injured in a car-ramming attack that occurred last week near the city of Ramallah in the West Bank.
Leiter explained, in a blog post published on the “X” platform from Jerusalem, that he constantly accompanies his son to the bedside, noting that his health condition, although relatively stable after undergoing complex brain surgery, remains critical and very delicate.
The ambassador’s statements coincided with a visit by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to check on the health condition of the injured soldier.
Neria Leiter was seriously injured as a result of a run-over attack carried out on September 23rd at a military checkpoint west of Ramallah, after which he was transferred to receive urgent medical treatment.
This injury highlights the tragedy of the family of Ambassador Leiter, who had previously lost his other son, Officer Moshe Leiter, after he was killed during ground battles in the Gaza Strip in November 2023.
These developments on the ground come in light of the escalating security tension witnessed in the West Bank, including tightening military measures by the Israeli army and an increase in the frequency of friction at checkpoints and military points.
