The Consumer Protection Directorate in the Ministry of Economy and Trade announced the outcome of its field monitoring campaigns completed during the period extending from the beginning of 2026 until September 18 of this year, which resulted in the implementation of 17,223 inspections in various Lebanese regions, and the writing of 836 arrest reports against violators.
The report issued by the Directorate explained that the supervisory activities covered 20 commercial and service sectors, focusing on monitoring the prices of consumer goods and materials, verifying food safety conditions, and controlling the private electric generators sector. The generators sector topped the list of violations by registering 463 reports, in joint coordination with the security and judicial agencies.
In terms of receiving and processing consumer complaints, the Directorate recorded receiving 1,678 complaints since the beginning of the year. The period between September 14 and 18 witnessed a rapid response to 180 complaints, which culminated in the implementation of 555 field investigations that led to the issuance of 50 arrest reports.
In light of these facts, the Ministry of Economy and Trade renews its calls on citizens to participate in community oversight and report any violations or violations that are monitored, by using the digital services application (MoET Digital Services), or by calling the hotline of the Consumer Association – Lebanon at 01/750650.
