The Australian Department of Foreign Affairs announced the expansion of the scope of its sanctions imposed on Russia, to include 33 new individuals, 35 institutions, in addition to 38 ships.
The blacklist included a number of prominent figures, led by the former head of the Russian Olympic Committee, Stanislav Pozdnyakov, and the head of the Russian Wrestling Federation, Mikhail Mamiashvili, along with Igor Zhuravlyov, director of the “Smina” summer camp for children, and Konstantin Fedorenko, director of the “Artek” camp.
The sanctions on the institutions included a number of banks, namely: “Tochka Bank”, “Posta Bank”, “Lanta Bank”, “Sinara Bank”, “Absolute Bank”, “TKB Bank”, and “Ak Pars Bank”.
The Australian measures also targeted a number of companies in the defense industry sector, most notably: the Military Industries Company Limited, the “Tula Arms” Public Joint Stock Company (including the Tula Factory), the “SS Golembievsky” Company, the “Avtodiesel” Company, the “Zavod No. 9” Company, the “Arzamas” Machinery Building Company, and the Nakhimov Naval Military School.
In addition, the new restrictions affected camps for children and youth, including “Smina,” “Orlyonok,” and “Artek,” in addition to the Russian “First Movement for Children and Youth,” the National Youth Education Movement “Voin,” and the general regional fund bearing the name of the hero of Russia, Akhmad Haji Kadyrov.
