The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Nabih Berri, called for a joint session of the parliamentary committees to be held at exactly eleven o’clock in the afternoon on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, in order to study an agenda that includes five draft laws and proposals for laws that range from regulating professions, digital transformation, protecting the environment, and enhancing social care.
The call includes committees: Finance and Budget, Administration and Justice, Public Health, Labor and Social Affairs, National Education, Higher Education and Culture, Agriculture, Environment, and Information Technology. Due to the overlapping jurisdictions of these files between public administration, environment, and social protection.
The agenda includes a legal proposal to establish a mandatory membership union for visual professions specialists, in addition to a draft law – contained in Decree No. 6092 issued on January 16, 2020 – requiring the establishment of a mandatory professional union for licensed chemists.
The meeting will also discuss the draft law establishing the Ministry of Technology and Artificial Intelligence, contained in Decree No. 1286 issued on September 19, 2025, and the draft law on forests and pastures contained in Decree No. 2687 issued on March 19, 2026. The agenda concludes with a proposal for a law aimed at strengthening welfare policies related to maternity and paternity benefits, breastfeeding, and childcare services, as well as social security.
