The US Embassy in Beirut announced the delivery to the Lebanese Army of a new military shipment containing 16 million rounds of ammunition, in a step that falls within the ongoing support provided by Washington to enhance the capabilities of the military institution and support the state’s authority.
The embassy explained, in a statement published through its account on the “X” platform, that the volume of American military aid provided to the Lebanese Army exceeded $800 million during the past six years, stressing that this shipment represents a practical example of the long-term American commitment to raising the readiness of the Lebanese Armed Forces.
The embassy linked this support to efforts to support Lebanon’s sovereignty, secure its borders, confront internal threats, and disrupt activities related to terrorism.
The embassy stressed the United States’ firm commitment to supporting the Lebanese government and army in extending state authority, protecting civilians, and providing basic services, which contributes to creating the appropriate conditions for achieving lasting peace and stability in the country.
