Beirut – The Minister of Interior and Municipalities, Ahmed Al-Hajjar, while receiving a delegation from the Union of Bint Jbeil Municipalities in his office, discussed the general conditions in the region and the conditions of those displaced from it, in light of the continuing Israeli attacks and the additional burdens they impose on the southern towns and their people.
Minister Al-Hajjar heard from the delegation in detail about the urgent needs at various levels, stressing that municipal councils constitute an essential partner in following up on citizens’ affairs and meeting their requirements. He pointed out that the Ministry of Interior will spare no effort in providing the necessary support to municipalities to enhance their ability to respond to the current crisis.
In this context, Al-Hajjar stressed the Ministry’s commitment to following up on vital files related to municipal work, especially with regard to the file of the Independent Municipal Fund and the distribution of due revenues, with the aim of enabling municipal councils to continue performing their duties and providing basic services to citizens, in light of the increasing burdens placed on them as a result of the waves of displacement and the field situation.
In a separate context, the Minister of Interior and Municipalities received the Mufti of Akkar, Sheikh Zaid Bakkar Zakaria, at the head of a delegation, where they discussed the general conditions of the Akkar region and the life and livelihood needs of its people.
