On Wednesday, the city of Douma in the Damascus countryside witnessed a protest movement against the backdrop of the arrest of a young man and his father due to a Facebook post, before events developed into a number of protesters entering a security headquarters and removing the detainees from inside it.
According to the information received, dozens of residents flocked to the center of Douma in response to calls circulated on social media platforms, and gathered in the municipal square before heading to the vicinity of the security headquarters, demanding the release of the detainees.
As the movement continued, a number of protesters were able to overcome the barriers and enter the detention facility.
Information indicated that the movement ended with the detainees being removed from inside the headquarters and ensuring their departure, amid gatherings in the streets of the city.
This development comes at a time when Syria is witnessing continuous security and administrative changes, while files of arrests and local protests remain the subject of follow-up in a number of regions.
