Three federations are competing to sign Meziane Masloub, a French player from Lens, and the son of Walid Masloub, a former Algerian national team player, to include him in their national teams, after his clear brilliance with his team in a historic “Remontada” against Slavia Prague in the Czech Republic in the first round of the European Champions League.
Meziane (16 years old) became the third youngest player to participate for the first time in the Champions League with a French team, and he shined clearly in his first appearance, which prompted the Spanish newspaper “Marca” to call him the new “Lamine Yamal twin.”
According to the newspaper, France is facing competition from the Portuguese Federation and its Algerian counterpart to include Meziane in the ranks of its national teams, as he currently plays for the Portugal U-17 team thanks to his mother’s origins, while his father, Walid, played with the Algerian national team on 7 previous international occasions.
